Look ahead to your future
You've probably heard the saying, "Lets not get ahead of ourselves". Well, in this chapter, we are going to get way ahead of ourselves. Lets move forward to the time when you accomplish your ultimate goal. You've done it, you've really accomplished everything that you planned and are living your dream. It's time to enjoy it, really revel in the knowledge that you set your goal and accomplished it. Imagine how that would feel. Achieving your goals and dreams is very exilerating, and feeling it now will help to drive you forward.
But move even further into the future. You've taken all the steps along your new path and all of a sudden the road ends. What comes next? Many people accomplish their goals, peak at the top of their life and then enter a self destructive pattern because they don't know what to do next. They think that's it, their life is complete, when in truth, it's only just begun. I don't want this to ever happen to you, I really don't. So right now, we are going to take a step to make sure that it never happens. It's quite simple, all you'll need to do is create a new goal that immediately follows your current ultimate goal. But, you shouldn't create this goal until you have already accomplished your current goal. You will have a completely new and fresh perspective on life, which makes it hard to determine just what goal you'll want to accomplish next.
So what I want you to do, is write a letter to your future self and seal it in an envelope. You are going to write on that envelope, 'Do not open until My Ultimate Goal is achieved'. On the day that you finally accomplish your ultimate goal, you are going to open that letter, read it and enjoy that moment like no other moment before it.
It's a pretty exciting thought to be able to reach forward in time and talk to that person you are going to become isn't it?
I've written a template for your letter to your future self. Read the letter now and please feel free to add to it, or completely rewrite it. Just make it a personal letter to your future self. I'd like you to write it by hand, not on the computer, because writing it by hand, makes it a little more personal. The more personal this letter, the better.
Your Letter to your Future Self
"Congratulations! You did it. I knew you would. I can see that great big smile on your face right now, it must feel so good. I want you to revel in the joy and satisfaction that you have become a better, more confident person. Feel all the excitement and sense of accomplishment in knowing that if you set your mind to it, you can accomplish anything. Anything at all.
And this is just the beginning. Accept that you have accomplished your current ultimate goal, enjoy it, feel grateful for it. It was just a step on your new path leading you to this moment right now. You've taken so many steps along this new journey and now you've come to a crossroads. Before you lies so many new paths, just waiting for you to explore. Now it's time to take the next step and create a brand new compelling ultimate goal for your life. Think about what it is that you want next. Perhaps you have another relationship goal that you want to achieve. Or maybe something else. Do you want help others, or seek your fortunes? Perhaps you want to find a deep spiritual connection, or make the world a better place. There are so many possibilities. Take your time to consider what it is you want next, and apply what you have learned in this program to create new day dreams, new goals, and a new path on your journey through life."
Your Task
Take the time to write your Letter to your Future Self. Know that it will be an important moment in your life when you finally do open that letter. Make it as personal and exciting as possible, but the most important thing is to include a reminder to create a new compelling goal.
After you've written your letter, take a break before continuing on to the next chapter. Are you still practising your visualizations? This may be a good time to do some visualizing.
