The Importance of Appearance
Appearance is important, but not crucial. Attitude and confidence are generally much more attractive to women than appearance. But still, lets not fool ourselves, your physical appearance is often the first thing that a woman is going to notice about you.
The thing about physical appearance is that it's not all about the genes that you've inherited. By making the most of what you have, you are that much better off. So lets discuss physical appearance and get you as sharp looking as possible. I've also included some links to more information or products, to help improve your appearance. Take advantage of whatever you can to assist you!
Hair
I highly recommend a change in hair style. A change or update in your hair style can be liberating, enabling you to make significant changes in your life. As corny as it sounds, it allows you to become a whole new person. You can think of it as an announcement to the world. I am changing my life. I am a new person.
So what hair style to choose? I suggest you take a look at some of todays hottest stars, the guys you can typically find on those Entertainment TV shows. Find a few styles that you think suit you, maybe cut some pictures out of a Magazine and take them to a GOOD hairstylist. Skip the cheap haircut places, you need to find a good 'up-to-date' stylist. Ask the hairstylist for her advice, be honest with her, tell her that you want to make a serious change in your hair. Ask her which style she thinks would work best for you. Make it fun! When she is done, make sure you ask her which products you should use, and ask her to show you how to style it yourself.
General Maintenance
Women often notice the little things about guys that we generally don't think about. So trim those nose and ear hairs. Keep yourself clean shaven, if you have a beard or moustache, keep it trimmed. Make sure that your beard or moustache works with your hairstyle (ask the hairstylist!). Keep your nails trimmed and filed, if you bite them, STOP THAT. Women REALLY, REALLY don't like nails that are rough and sharp, (for obvious reasons...) Keep those eyebrows trimmed as well, Einstein didn't really have a lot of fashion sense...
Complexion
I personally grew up with 'problem skin', or more specifically acne. It had a huge impact on my confidence, because I always felt that noone could get past looking at my skin. I tried so many different products, went to a few different dermatologists, but nothing seemed to work until I finally changed my thinking about acne, and was rid of it once and for all. I could probably write up an entire program to cover this topic, maybe one day I will! In the meantime, its important to realize that you CAN get clear skin, you just need the right help and the right frame of mind. I highly recommend checking out Acne Cured to learn about their program. Don't let your skin problem get in the way of your goals!
Aside from acne related problems, iIf you are a little pale, you may want to consider going for some tanning sessions. Don't overdue the tanning, just don't be too pale.
Teeth
Guys, you must brush your teeth on a regular basis. Try making a habit of brushing after every meal, or at least twice a day. Take a brush and toothpaste with you to work. Nothing will turn a woman off faster, than bad breath and unsightly teeth. Brush, floss, and go to the dentist on a regular basis.
Fitness
Overweight
If you are overweight, chances are you've probably tried many different diet plans. Unfortunately only 5% of dieters actually succeed in losing their weight and keeping it off. Recently, researchers reported in the Journal of the American Medical Association that patients who lost weight with a low-glycemic diet kept the weight off longer than patients who lost the same amount of weight with a standard low-fat diet.
It takes a true decision, and a comittment to achieving your goal weight through whatever healthy means possible. That means creating a habit of daily exercise and eating a healthy diet, perferably a low-glycemic diet.
So get out there and join that gym, make a habit of attending on a regular basis. In fact, the gym can be a great place to meet women. Eating healthy foods and performing regular exercise will do wonders for anyone's appearance.
Underweight
I personally grew up skinny, and underweight. I can remember times wondering why 'overweight' people were complaining, at least they weren't 'skinny'. Today, I'm a healthy weight, and fit. I've made it a habit to exercise regularly and eat healthy foods. I encourage you to do the same.
If you are underweight, I suggest joining a gym and learning about proper exercises that will build muscle. But also, its important to make sure you are getting the right foods and supplements into your body to encourage growth. I suggest visiting a health store and asking about some protein powder products. By creating and sticking to a regular exercise program and eating healthy, you'll be surprised at the amount of muscle you can build.
If you don't know much about exercise, check out this skinny to muscular program. Just be sure to stay away from the steroids and other quick fix drugs. Those types of products have too many side effects and health issues, sure to turn off women.
Smell
I already mentioned that you need to brush your teeth to eliminate bad breath. This goes without saying, but you also must shower regularly and use deodorant products. You may want to consider some cologne, but stay away from the cheap stuff. Go to a good store that carries the more expensive cologne. Try to find a good looking girl that works there and ask her what kinds of cologne she likes. If she isn't trying to sell you the most marked up product, you might find a good cologne. Just don't use too much, keep it light, ask the saleswoman how much you should use. Women generally have a more sensitive sense of smell than men. Too much is worse than none at all.
Dressing for success
After you have your new haircut, and are all cleaned up, it's time to update your wardrobe. Again, I suggest that you look to Entertainment magazines to see what's in style. If you have a sister or female-friend with some fashion sense, ask her to go shopping with you. Tell her that you want to make some changes, and you want to look attractive. If you don't have someone to help you, then go to some of the hip stores and ask for some help. Stay away from the "BigMarts" with the blue light specials. I'm talking about the stores that sell sharp clothes with some style. Sure, you might have to spend some more money, but it's important, and it will make you feel confident about your appearance. Find the right style, but also mix it up a little. You want to have more than one look.
Also, be sure to keep your clothes clean, and take care of them. If some of your clothes are getting worn out, its time to go shopping again.
